Missing Sec 22 man found dead in lake

The body of a 28-year-old man, who was missing for the past six days, was found at Sukhna Lake today. The body got stuck in the fish hook of an angler.

According to the police, a few persons, who were fishing at the lake, noticed the body after it got stuck with the fish hook. On getting information, cops rushed to the spot and pulled the body out of the lake. It was shifted to the mortuary at Government Multi-Specialty Hospital (GMSH) in Sector 16.

After the investigation, the police established the victim’s identity as Arun Kumar, a resident of Sector 22. Kumar was missing since January 8 and his family had lodged a complaint with the Sector 22 police post on January 9.

Police officials said prima facie, nothing suspicious had been found as there were no injury marks on the body. However, the cause of the death could only be established after a postmortem examination.

The victim worked as a technician at a factory in the Industrial Area.

The police said the victim was not going to work for a few days before he went missing. Meanwhile, an investigation into the incident has been initiated at the Sector 17 police station. — TNS
