Mock drill ahead of New Year festivities

Chandigarh Police Operation Cell conducted a mock drill at City Centre Mall, IT Park, ahead of the New Year celebrations.

To assess the preparedness and coordination between Chandigarh Police and other emergency services of the UT Administration, the Chandigarh Police Operation Cell conducted a mock drill at City Centre Mall, IT Park, ahead of the New Year celebrations.

Various emergency services and stakeholders of the Chandigarh Administration participated in the exercise. During the drill, the building was cordoned off and evacuated by the commandos of the Operation Cell. A joint search operation was conducted by the House Intervention Teams (HIT) of the cell, the Bomb Detection Squad and the Dog Squad of Chandigarh Police. The team successfully located a dummy bomb in a corridor of the building.

Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs), snipers from the Operation Cell, the drone team, PCR vehicles, traffic interceptors, an ambulance from GMSH-16 and a fire tender from the Mani Majra fire station were deployed.

Additionally, a hydraulic platform-cum-turntable (HPTT) from the fire station in Sector 17, the Civil Defence team, the Mobile Forensic Team, and personnel from the local area police station arrived on-site to manage the simulated crisis.
