Chandigarh Congress president HS Lucky has criticised the Narendra Modi-led BJP government as it completed 11 years in power. Terming it a “decade of betrayal”, Lucky stated that the dreams sold in 2014 had turned into daily struggles for people.

In his words, in 2014, people trusted the promise of ‘achhe din’, but instead of jobs, growth and unity, the nation had to endure record unemployment, rising prices, social unrest and broken institutions.

On key failures of Modi government, Lucky said that India saw the worst unemployment in 45 years. He said that micro, small and medium enterprises collapsed due to demonetisation, GST and arbitrary lockdowns, and fuel, gas and essential commodities had become unaffordable. Over 700 farmers died during the farm protests and no legal MSP guarantee had been implemented yet. He said that the CBI, ED, Election Commission and judiciary had faced repeated political interference and hate politics and violence had severely damaged India’s secular fabric.

On foreign failures, he said China’s occupation of Indian land in Ladakh remained unresolved. On broken promises, Lucky said Rs 15 lakh in every account, 2 crore jobs per year, smart cities and the bullet train — all remain unfulfilled. He urged people to look beyond slogans and assess their actual realities, rising kitchen costs, lack of jobs and growing insecurity.
