The police have booked Ward No. 9 councillor Bajraj Kaur Dhaliwal and her husband Gagan Dhaliwal on the charge of stealing interlocking tiles.

Gurjeet Singh of Mataur complained that the interlocking tiles meant for paving footpaths in Sector 70 were found in the couple’s farmhouse at Jhanjheri. The police said when the police inspected the farmhouse, the couple was present there but could not furnish satisfactory proof of the ownership of the tiles.

Gagan said he owned a tile-making unit and the seized tiles were brought from there. Those were of same make as used in the Sector 70 work. He alleged that the case was politically motivated. “The complainant is an AAP worker and not a resident of the ward. The court has granted us anticipatory bail.”
