Mohali Golf Range sealed for not paying property tax
The Mohali Municipal Corporation today sealed the Mohali Golf Range, Sector 65, for defaulting on paying property tax, totalling more than Rs 15 lakh. Big hotels, industrial establishments and shopping malls have also come under the scanner, officials added.
Mohali MC said despite several notices to property holders, property tax was not being deposited, therefore, many premises had been sealed.
Municipal Corporation Commissioner Parmar Pal Singh said notices were being sent to commercial and industrial property owners for tax defaults in the past some days. Notices are being sent to property tax defaulters by the MC and some properties have been sealed last week.
“All big establishments, including shopping malls, industrial houses and other commercial establishments will be encouraged to pay property tax on time. Our target is to collect at least Rs 50 cr this year. Around Rs 42 cr have been collected and there are still 15 days to go. The MC appeals to people to pay outstanding property tax soon at the MC office,” he added.
The property tax branch of the MC is open on Saturday and Sunday (9 am to 2 pm) in March so that people can deposit their property tax. The last date for filing property tax for the financial year 2024-25 is March 31.
