All arms of the administration were in serious work mode today. The Deputy Commissioner, GMADA Chief Administrator, Mohali MC Commissioner, Mohali SSP and Civil Surgeon had no time to rest as they tied up loose ends in their respective departments, to demonstrate effective governance.

Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain convened a meeting with GMADA Chief Administrator Moonish Kumar, MC Commissioner T Benith and ADC (UD) Anmol Singh Dhaliwal to review the progress of ongoing initiatives. During the meeting, DC Aashika Jain emphasised the importance of following up on progress in their departments to improve the road infrastructure in Mohali, ensuring it is commuter-friendly.

Meanwhile, the Mohali ADC inspected the laying of sewage lines on VIP Road, Zirakpur. The Mohali MC Commissioner took a round of city markets and the Civil Surgeon held a monthly meeting with programme officers and the Senior Medical Officer of the district.

During a review meeting, the UT Administration’s team apprised that the issue of road widening and conversion from Shri Gurdwara Sanjha Sahib (from Sector 48/65) to Dara Studio (49/64 to 50-63), converting it from a single to a dual carriageway, has been under consideration and will be soon sent to planning department for further development. Similarly, the PR 5 road connecting Sector 43 Bus Stand to Mohali was also under review.

Railway Engineers present at the meeting said the JLPL Crossing over the road from Chhat Light Points to Gopal Sweets Road, a high-traffic area during peak hours, will be converted to a dual carriageway. After an initial joint inspection, a proposal will be submitted to the Railway Authorities for approval.

Other topics discussed included traffic regulation improvements, such as providing slip roads at Cheema Boiler Point (Quark City), Semi-Conductor Limited and IISER Road. The GMADA authorities approved the proposed slip road at Semi-Conductor Limited, while issues related to congestion on PSIEC roads were referred to the MC, as those roads had been handed over to them.

DSP Traffic Karnail Singh urged for proper precautions to minimise the chance of accidents near upcoming round abouts on Airport road.

GMADA’s Chief Administrator called on the traffic police to address the issue of haphazard parking near city hospitals, stating that GMADA’s Estate Office had already issued notices to hospitals.

MC Commissioner conducts daily checks

The Municipal Corporation Commissioner of Mohali, T Benith, today conducted a cleanliness check in Zone No 2, Phase 3A, 3B1 and 3B2 today and inspected the area as well as the RMC points. He also checked the attendance of the field staff on the occasion. He also addressed the grievances of residents.

Sewerage system upgrade to complete soon: Official

Anmol Singh Dhaliwal, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) met with members of various Residents’ Welfare Associations today to address the issues faced by residents of VIP Road, Zirakpur.

The officials also visited the ongoing sewerage pipeline installation on VIP Road. The Additional Deputy Commissioner assured the residents that the sewer line installation would be completed by March 15.

‘Staff need to work more diligently’

Civil Surgeon Dr Sangeeta Jain held a monthly meeting with the programme officers and senior medical officers of the district here today. She said they were committed to provide better, timely and quality health care facilities to the people, for which all staff need to do their work with more diligence and loyalty.
