Mohali, January 28
While the senior functionaries of the Punjab Government reiterated their determination to make Mohali an industrial hub, members of the Mohali Industries’ Association (MIA) apprised them of various problems being faced by them from time to time.
In an interactive session, which was held by the association with MP Manish Tewari, Mohali MLA and Minister for Labour and Health and Family Welfare, Punjab, Balbir Singh Sidhu, and former Punjab Cabinet Minister Jagmohan Singh Kang, the local industrials asked for construction of up to the mark hostel for industrial workers and ESI dispensary, shifting of illegal dumping site from the area, setting up of a fire station and cargo warehouse at the airport.
“Our major problems need to be redressed and demands be fulfilled on a priority basis for development of industrial scenario in Mohali,” the MIA members said.
Yogesh Sagar, president of the association, said Tewari was taking keen interest in it. With his efforts, the industry had been able to get Rs 10 crore for the upkeep and upgrade of the industrial focal point at Chanalon,” Sagar said. While giving assurance to resolve all industry-related issues, Sidhu said the garbage site in Industrial Area, Phase 8, would be shifted to Samgauli village. He also announced that land for ESI dispensary would also be allotted in Sector 66 here. — TNS
