Mohali jewellery shop manager held for Rs 1.28-cr theft

The recovered items included earrings, gold coins, silver rings, lockets, necklaces and bangles

The police arrested Jeshine Jewellery Showroom manager Deepak Kumar Bhardwaj for the alleged theft of gold and diamond ornaments worth Rs 1.28 cr on the night of November 1.

Cops said the accused, working as a manager in the jewellery shop located in Sector 66, had been arrested and the stolen gold and diamond jewelry has also been recovered from him.

The recovered items included earrings, gold coins, silver rings, lockets, necklaces and bangles.

The accused, 47, a resident of Sector 125, Sunny Enclave, Kharar, is a graduate and

had been working as the manager in the jeweller’s shop for four years. The accused is under police remand. A DVR, cash and an EPABX machine have also been recovered from his possession.

On the statements of Vikram Singh Sandhu, Signature Tower Sector-66A, a case under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered against unknown accused at the IT City Police Station in Mohali.

The complainant stated that unidentified criminals executed a highly sensitive theft, during which valuable jewellery worth approximately Rs 2 crore was stolen from a safe on November 2.

When the jewellery showroom was reopened on Monday, the storage room was found opened.

The thieves had also decamped with the DVR of the security cameras.
