Former Health and Family Welfare Minister and Mohali MLA Balbir Singh Sidhu today laid the foundation stone for the widening of a road connecting various villages with the historic Dau village in Mohali district.

The road, which will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs5 crore, will facilitate the movement of thousands of villagers in the area.

Speaking on the occasion, Balbir Singh Sidhu said development works had been carried out in almost all villages of the Mohali constituency on a war footing.

He said the Dau-Manana-Thaska link road connects around 20 villages. Apart from this, it was also a direct link route to Chandigarh, New Chandigarh and the Cricket Stadium, New Chandigarh. Considering the importance of this road,

the existing road was being widened from 10 feet to 18 feet.

Sidhu also inaugurated the sewage pipeline at Dao village laid at a cost of about Rs25 lakh.
