In a bid to ensure segregation of plastic waste in rural areas, a plant will soon come up at the Madanhedi village of Kharar block.

In a review meeting of the rural development works organised today, at the District Administrative Complex, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Sonam Chaudhary said solid and plastic waste has become the major issue in the rural areas.

“We have been trying various methods to dispose of the solid and wet waste with the help of Department of Water Supply and Sanitation. The plastic waste plant that is being set up at Madanhedi by Water Supply and Sanitation Department will pave the way for compressing the plastic material in bales, thereby, for sale in the open market,” Chaudhary further said.
