The police have booked three persons on the charge of duping a Phase 11 resident, Manav, on the pretext of sending him to the US on work visa. His family has alleged that the youth is stuck in Mexico.

The police have booked Kansal resident Rinku, Gurjinder Singh of Ambala and Mukul of Kurukshetra. In a complaint to the police, Mamta Rani has stated that she became acquaintance to Rinku through her friend. In February last year, she discussed with Rinku the travel plan of Manav to the US. He introduced her to his relative Gurjinder Singh, after which she gave “two passports and Rs 3 lakh to Gurjinder for documentation. On July 18, 2024, Gurjinder took Manav to Delhi and then to Mumbai. He demanded Rs 15 lakh more and refused to take it in bank account. The accused took Rs 2.5 lakh more to arrange dollars for him. The complainant sold her house in Baltana to arrange money.

“The youth called up his family to inform that the agent tried to infiltrate him through Panama forests and Mexico but failed to cross over to the US. He, along with several other Indian youths, is stuck in Mexico.”
