Mohitha Polavaram I of Tamil Nadu defeated Bihar’s Somya Bharti in straight games 21-19 21-14, during a girls’ U-13 match, on the opening day of the Yonex-Sunrise All-India Sub-Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament here today.

In other qualifying matches, Rajasthan’s Ritika Jhamnni logged a comeback win 20-22 21-15 21-16 over Telangana Visubha Ayyadevara and Kerala’s Hitha Maria Jose recorded a similar win over Haryana’s Devanshi Dalal 17-21 21-18 21-12. Gagana Sri Chowdary Kolapaneni of Andhra Pradesh defeated Noshi Ramaul of Himachal Parades 21-7 21-6 and Gujarat’s Diya Panikar defeated Virika Ayyadevara 21-3 21-9. In other matches, Inayat Gulati defeated Divnoor Kaur 21-9 21-4, Siona Gala defeated Ananya Nijhawan 21-9 21-10 and Haryana’s Gauri Kalla ousted Muskan Jat of Madhya Pradesh 21-17 21-6. Chandigarh’s Ridhima Saini defeated Haryana’s Ananya Saini 21-14 21-4 and Rebika Devi Mayanglambam of Manipur easily defeated Sri Devika Adishya HM 21-14 21-12. Karnataka’s Tanushree Honawad also confirmed her berth in the second qualifying round by defeating Maharashtra’s Vidhi Saini 21-9 21-8 and Gujarat’s Aashi Ranjan defeated Maharashtra’s Thea Sheth 22-20 21-16. Delhi’s Ananya Chauhan ousted Ananya Banda 21-8 21-3, Dhriti Sahasra Banda defeated Riddhi Tidke 21-10 21-8 and Maanyata Waadhwa overpowered Haryana’s Khushi Gahlawat 21-13 21-17.

Delhi’s Kritleen Kaur recorded an easy 21-17 21-11 win over Ovi Patil and Aryama Chakraborty defeated Haryana’s Naisha Verma 21-14 21-11.
