Manish Tewari inaugurates open-air gym at Panjab University
An open-air gym was inaugurated today at Panjab University by MP Manish Tewari during a programme organised by area councillor Sachin Galav.
Tewari said, “The initiative aims to promote health and fitness among students and residents of the area. The gym has been set up under the MPLAD Scheme, reflecting a strong commitment to public health infrastructure.”
City Congress president HS Lucky and PU Vice-Chancellor Prof Renu Vig were present at the programme.
A tree plantation drive was held as part of the event, symbolising sustainable development in the city and environmental responsibility.
In his address, Tewari said establishing an open-air gym at a premier academic institution would benefit not only students, but residents from surrounding areas too.
Prof Vig said, “The gym and tree plantation drive perfectly align with our vision of a green and healthy university campus.”
Other dignitaries present on the occasion included YP Verma, Registrar, PU, Jasbir Singh Bunty, Senior Deputy Mayor, Taruna Mehta, Deputy Mayor, and Ravinder Pali, former Mayor.
