Chandigarh, July 6
Cases of mucormycosis have decreased further in the city.
The number patients being received daily at the city hospitals has come down to about three to four per day from eight per day last week.
“Fatality in mucormycosis cases has also come down to 11 per cent at the PGI. We were getting 10-12 patients of mucormycosis daily in our hospital emergencies,” said PGI Director Prof Jagat Ram.
Jasbinder Kaur, Director, GMCH-32, stated that there were 22 active cases at the hospital and four of them were likely to be discharged soon.
Till date, the city hospitals have reported 551 cases of mucormycosis.
A total of 53 deaths took place in the city hospitals due to the fungal infection, of these 10 deaths belong to Chandigarh. — TNS
