‘Mukhot Naamcha’ depicts violence in society

Chandigarh, February 6

The Performer’s Association presented a play, ‘Mukhot Naamcha’, during the ongoing TFT Winter National Theatre Festival at Navrang Theatre here today.

The play was based on three short stories by Samresh Basu, Harnam Singh Narula and Saadat Hasan Manto. It was directed by Dr Raman Mittal, who essayed the lead role also.

The first story, ‘Khuda Hafiz’ by Samresh Basu, depicted the deep-rooted violence in our society. The second story, ‘Aakhri Pulangh’ by Harnam Singh Narula, talked about transference of violence. It revolved around human emotions and tides of change.

The third story by Saadat Hasan Manto reflected the external and internal violence and its various shades which can be seen in the everyday activities of the individuals.

The lifeline of the play was melodic and soulful rendition of four poems by Surjit Patar by Supandandeep, who is an Excise and Taxation Officer. Raman Mittal, Mandeep Ghai, Karan Radooana, Sandeep Gargi and Navjot Singh were part of cast.

Chief guest KS Pannu, IAS officer, along with Shri Ranjan, IAS officer, and CCPCR Chairperson Bibi Harjinder Kaur blessed the artistes.
