Music industry pays tributes to composer Charanjit
Members of Punjabi music industry, politicians, fans, family and friends paid their final tribute to music composer Charanjit Ahuja as he was cremated at Balongi crematorium this afternoon.
His son, Sachin Ahuja, lit the pyre as wife Sangeeta Ahuja, sons Pankaj Ahuja, Luv Ahuja and Kush Ahuja turned emotional. His mortal remains adorned with flowers were brought to the crematorium as attendees paid their last respect.
Sharing their four decades long relationship with the father figure, famous singers such as Hans Raj Hans, Jasbir Jassi, Gippy Grewal, Navraj Hans, Karamjit Anmol, Bal Mukand Sharma, Hardeep, Pammi Bai, Surjit Khan, Durga Rangeela, Amarjit Bai, Satwinder Bugga, Sukhi Brar, Ravinder Grewal, Kulwinder Billa, Bill Singh, Jagtar Jagga, Ashok Hoshiarpuri, Kulwant Gill, Rakhi Hundal, Harbans Sahota, Labh Hira, Kuldeep Toor, Gulzar Lahoria, Kulwant Gill, Pammi Bai, described Ahuja’s passing away as an irrepairable loss to the Punjabi music industry.
Ahuja, 72, passed away at his home in TDI City after a prolonged illness last evening. He was suffering from liver cancer and undergoing treatment at PGI Chandigarh.
Punjab’s Minister for Cultural Affairs, Tarunpreet Singh Sond, expressed deep sorrow over the demise of the music composer.
“Charanjit Ahuja’s melodies were not only unique and soothing but also unforgettable. He played a pivotal role in taking many singers to great heights while himself remaining deeply grounded,” said the Minister.
Extending heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, Sond prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and strength to the family.
