Mystery shrouds newborn girl's death at Ambala Civil Hospital

The Ambala police have registered a murder case against an unidentified person in connection with the death case of a newborn girl at the Civil Hospital, Ambala City.

As per information, the newborn girl died at the Civil Hospital on December 26. After getting information, a police team reached the hospital.

In his statement to the police, Pradeep Kumar, a resident of Barara, stated that on December 24 he admitted his wife Kajal to the Civil Hospital, Ambala City, where she gave

birth to a girl child. His sister-in-law Puja was

taking care of them. The couple already had a daughter.

On December 26, Puja informed that the child was having some breathing issues and she was rushed to the emergency ward where the newborn was declared dead. Pradeep claimed that the child died while undergoing treatment. They had no suspicion on anyone and they don’t want to get the postmortem done.

Later, the postmortem was conducted by a board of doctors. The postmortem report stated that “Combine effect of asphyxia due to throttling and smothering, which is ante-mortem in nature and sufficient to cause death in ordinary course of nature”.

On the basis of the postmortem report, a murder case has been registered against an unidentified person under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Baldev Nagar police station.

Investigating Officer Sub-Inspector Ravi Kumar said: “CCTV footage is being examined and the matter was under investigation.”
