Namdhari Sect seeks justice

Hundreds of residents belonging to the Namdhari Sect, under the banner of Mata Chand Kaur Action Committee, took out a protest march in the town and handed over a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner to be forwarded to the Prime Minister here today.

They alleged that under political pressure, murderers of Mata Chand Kaur have not been arrested till now.

Addressing the media, Arvinder Singh Laddi and Gurmail Singh Brar, spokesmen for the action committee, said four years ago, Mata Chand Kaur was murdered in Bhani Sahib. “It was a planned conspiracy, but the murderers have not been arrested. Neither the police nor the CBI were able to identify the murderers.” The suspects were not interrogated like in other cases. “Instead of arresting the murderers, the investigating agencies are committing atrocities on innocents. We want justice in the case,” they said. — OC
