The Anaesthesia Technical Staff Association of Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, observed the National Anaesthesia and Operation Theatre Technologist’s Day recently. Anil Kumar, general secretary, emphasised the importance of the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions Bill, 2021 (NCAHP Act), which was implemented to regulate education and services standards for allied and healthcare professionals in India.

He noted that states and union territories had yet to establish the required state allied and healthcare councils, with the Ministry extending the deadline six times for establishing the same. Prof Sanjeev Palta, HOD, anaesthesia, was the chief guest along with Prof Manpreet, Prof Dheeraj and other senior faculty members. Palta praised the indispensable role of anaesthesia technicians in critical areas such as operation theatres and ICUs, commending their technical skills and compassionate patient care. The celebration featured a cultural programme with interactive sessions with BSc students.
