National hockey: Himachal, Jharkhand win matches

Hockey Himachal and Jharkhand won the league matches in the 14th Hockey India Sub-Junior Men National Championship. Himachal defeated Puducherry 2-0 and Jharkhand won by 6-4 from Delhi.

Hockey Himachal started well in the league match of Pool-H at the Sector-42 Hockey Stadium and kept Puducherry under pressure. Manpreet Singh scored two goals in the 28th and 34th minutes to give the team a 2-0 win. Jharkhand defeated Delhi Hockey by 6-4. Ashish Tani scored a hat-trick for Jharkhand, while Ganga Topno, Nicholas Topno and Faguwa Horo scored 1-1 goal each for their team.

In the third league match, Uttar Pradesh defeated Uttarakhand by 21-0. Ali Shahrukh scored five goals with a hat-trick, while Ujjwal Pal scored four goals with a hat-trick. Ajay Kumar, Rahul Yadav, Raghavendra Singh Chauhan, Mohammad Aqib and Ashwani Singh scored two goals each for the team. Rajbhar Prahlad and captain Ketan Kushwaha got success with one goal each.

Odisha defeated Chhattisgarh 8-1 in the fourth league match of the day. Salman Lakra and Kerketta Mithlesh scored 2-2 goals for Odisha, while Ketha Bishal, Kerketta Mandeep, Bala Sujit and Lakra Bimal scored 1-1 goals.

Haryana defeated Hockey Bengal 5-0 in the fifth league match. Chirag scored two goals after opening the team’s account and then Ronak Rana also got success two goals. Nikhil gave Haryana victory after scoring one goal.
