Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini marked the 163rd birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda with a series of announcements aimed at empowering the state’s youth. Speaking at a state-level function in Panchkula on the National Youth Day, the CM inaugurated 250 rural gyms and introduced initiatives to boost skill development, sports and employment opportunities.
Among the key announcements was the inclusion of “Inter Youth Club Games” in the state’s annual sports calendar. The CM also revealed that free sports equipment would be provided for eight sports, including volleyball, football and wrestling.
Highlighting a focus on vocational training, the CM pledged to establish at least one Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in every block. With 20 blocks currently lacking ITIs, new facilities would be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 400 crore.
The CM also announced a new policy to enhance proficiency in foreign languages. Under this initiative, the government would bear the certification costs for youth completing courses through recognised agencies. To further modernise skill development, 87 Hartron Advanced Skill Centres would be set up in the first year, providing training in emerging technologies like AI, cybersecurity and blockchain.
The CM also addressed the pressing issue of drug abuse, urging youth to lead efforts in eradicating this social evil. An anti-drug awareness song was released during the event. Job offer letters were handed out to ITI trainees.
Reflecting on the state’s achievements, the CM said Haryana had made strides in providing merit-based employment, with over 1.71 lakh government jobs given to youth during his tenure. The goal for the current term was to offer permanent government jobs to two lakh youth, he said.
The function concluded with a recitation of the Preamble of the Constitution, emphasising civic responsibility and the role of youth in shaping the nation’s future. The event showcased the state government’s commitment to fostering a skilled, healthy and productive generation.
