Netball silver medallist women’s team honoured

Chandigarh, August 9

The Netball Sports Promotion Association Chandigarh organised a felicitation ceremony to honour the local women’s team which won a silver medal in the 42nd Senior National Netball Championship in Bhiwani.

Sorabh Kumar Arora, Director, Sports, UT, along with guest of honour Dr Agnese Dhillon, secretary, Dev Samaj College Managing Committee, Sector 36, awarded the winners.

Jasleen, Chetna, Pushpa, Mehak, Komal, Payal, Himanshuka, Tannu, Tannu (Junior), Pooja, Sonia and Bhavya represented the local side along with Nikhil Yadav (coach) and Dishu Bisht (manager).

In the league stage, the local team faced an 11-15 defeat against Karnataka. However, the team bounced back with 15-10 verdict over Gujarat. In the pre-quarterfinals, the local side defeated Himachal Pradesh 18-15 followed by a stunning 14-11 win over Rajasthan in the quarterfinals. In the semifinal, the side defeated Punjab 14-11.
