Prof Anupama Sharma of Dr SS Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology, Panjab University, took over as Dean, Alumni Relations, and Secretary, PUAA, from Prof Deepti Gupta, Chairperson, Department of English, PU, for a period of one year.

Professor Gupta has been Dean, Alumni Relations, for a period of two years and initiated many activities involving PU alumni, including a global meet held in November, 2019.

Sharma has been a professor at the UICET since July 2011. She has over 20 years of experience of teaching and research. She said all steps would be taken in line with already initiated activities for PUAA. Her focus will be on strengthening the Alumni Association and organising the global meet scheduled for January 2021.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
