New road to connect railway station with Kalagram light point
Chandigarh, February 7
The railway authorities have decided to construct a separate road to connect the railway station with Kalagram light point to facilitate commuters coming from Mani Majra and Mansa Devi Complex in Panchkula.
SK Lohia, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Indian Railway Stations Development Corporation Limited (IRSDC), stated this here today.
He said a meeting to this effect was held with UT Adviser Manoj Parida and other officials of the Administration to discuss the Master Plan for developing a commercial hub on nearly 25 lakh sq feet of land belonging to the Railways.
Lohia said the contract for the construction of Rs 136-crore green building had been awarded and work had already been started on the project, which would be completed by the end of 2021.
The 70 per cent of area of the project would be developed as a commercial hub and the remaining 30 per cent area would be developed as a residential area.
Under the commercial project, two end blocks would be constructed on the ground and first and second floor on both sides of the railway station having an area of 14,052.40 sq m.
Amenities for passengers and commercial spaces for vendors and food plaza are planned into end blocks and airspace concourse. The world-class station is being designed and developed for catering to nearly 90,000 passengers every day. — TNS
