The Mohali administration is setting up two more Covid testing centres at Nayagaon and Sohana in order to ease the pressure on the Civil Hospital and reduce the waiting time of the examinees. It has also been decided that no elective surgeries would be undertaken in the tertiary care (level 3) hospitals in the next fortnight.

“A rapid surge in Covid cases mandates escalating bed strength in tertiary care hospitals. Surgeries that don’t require an immediate medical procedure may not be conducted at least for 15 days,” the order read. “As many as eight ambulances have been added to the fleet. The administration is procuring more ventilators,” said Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan. — TNS
