Chandigarh, July 20

A 26-year-old newlywed woman reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself at a house in Sector 32 today. No suicide note was found from the spot.

The victim has been identified as Manisha, who was a staff nurse at a private hospital in the Industrial Area.

The police said the victim had got married around four months ago. The couple had shifted to the rented accommodation a month ago. The victim’s husband works with a private company in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh.

“We searched the room. However, no suicide note was found,” said a police official.

The body has been shifted to the mortuary at the GMCH, Sector 32. The police have initiated inquest proceedings into the matter. The police said the statement of the victim’s husband would be recorded. — TNS
