Nights in Tricity turn chilly as mercury dips below 9°C

Partly cloudy conditions are expected early next week

Dry conditions prevailed over the region as temperatures dipped further across the Tricity on Thursday, marking a distinct chill in the air.

The minimum temperature in Chandigarh dropped to 8.7°C while Panchkula was the coldest at 8°C. Mohali, however, remained relatively warmer with a low of 12.4°C. The maximum temperature in Chandigarh settled at 27°C, about a degree below normal, as clear skies continued through the day.

The sharp fall in night temperatures widened the gap between day and night readings, an early sign of winter’s advance in the plains. Relative humidity in Chandigarh was recorded between 35% and 92%. No rainfall was reported in any of the Tricity stations.

According to the India Meteorological Department’s forecast, mainly clear skies will persist over the next few days with minimum temperatures likely to hover between 7°C and 8°C and daytime highs around 26-28°C. Partly cloudy conditions are expected early next week.
