NIPER scientists develop novel neurohealer
Scientists from the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) have made a breakthrough in neurotherapeutics with the development of Neuro-E, a novel biologic designed for neuroprotection and neural repair. The work addresses the critical unmet need for a neurotherapeutic for the treatment of ischemic stroke.
Neuro-E™ is an engineered version of naturally occurring human protein that facilitates neural repair by mimicking the natural functions of apoE in the brain. Studies have demonstrated its strong neuroprotective and neuro-healing effects, with promising results in preclinical animal models. led by Dr. Abhay H. Pande, the Department of Biotechnology, in collaboration with Dr. Shyam S Sharma, Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, has been validated through publications, including the International Journal of Biological Macromolecules. —TNS
