As many as 18 councillors have submitted a no confidence motion against Kharar Municipal Council president Jaspreet Kaur of Longia to executive officer. The councillors have called for a meeting to elect the new president.

A total of 18 councillors are needed to pass the no-confidence motion in the 27-member house.

Speculations were rife for past many days to remove president Longia, a SAD councillor from ward number 19.

The Kharar Municipal Council is one of the richest civic bodies in Punjab with a total budget of around Rs 136 crore but the civic amenities in the town remain in very poor condition, the councillors had complained.
