IndiGo Airline, which operates Chandigarh-Dubai-Chandigarh flight at Chandigarh international airport here, has decided to cancel the international flight till March 30 from today.

The reason behind the decision is said to be Covid-19 threat. Besides, seven domestic flights were cancelled for today at the local airport due to the same reason.

The domestic flights that were grounded today included IndiGo’s Chandigarh-Mumbai, Chandigarh-Delhi and Chandigarh-Bengaluru, GoAir’s Chandigarh-Delhi (G8 104 and G8 138), Chandigarh-Ahmedabad and Chandigarh-Mumbai.

It is to be noted that IndiGo had recently cut its Chandigarh flights operations from six days a week to three days a week.

“From now onwards, the international flight will remain suspended till March 30. However, the domestic flights in question were cancelled for today only,” said Prince Dildar, the spokesperson of Chandigarh International Airport Limited.

Meanwhile, two airlines have cancelled the departure of a total of six flights to various destinations from the Chandigarh international airport tomorrow.

According to information, two flights to Mumbai, three to Delhi and one flight to Hyderabad, which were to depart from the airport tomorrow, had been cancelled. These flights include IndiGo’s two flights — 6e 264 to Mumbai and 6e 755 to New Delhi. Similarly, GoAir had also cancelled five flights. These are G8 104 to Delhi, G8 2507 to Mumbai, G8 514 to Hyderabad and G8 138 to Delhi.

The spokespersons for these two airlines said flights had been cancelled due to operational reasons.
