Amidst rising tension and a standoff between striking revenue department officials and the state government, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday said that they cannot give license to revenue officials for corruption.

CM Mann visited the Kharar tehsil office today before heading to the Banur tehsil office. He is also scheduled to visit Fatehgarh Sahib today.

In Kharar this afternoon, Mann inspected the office’s functioning and said three SDMs, two kanungos, and two senior assistants have been delegated powers to ensure minimal disruption to the public.

“We will hire more officials. Let them go on leave,” he said to visitors outside the Kharar office.

Ahead of the CM’s visit, Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal and DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar had arrived at the tehsil office. Administration officials confirmed that all revenue department officials in Mohali have returned to their offices, having done so prior to the CM’s visit to Kharar.
