No power shortage in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, October 11

Amid reports of coal shortage, the power supply in the city remained normal during the day. Chief Engineer CB Ojha said there was no power crisis in the UT and they were drawing power as per their requirement.

He, however, clarified that power cuts being imposed in the city were to carry out routine maintenance works.

As most of the city’s electricity is drawn from hydro-electricity plants, the Administration sees no major crisis even in the wake of short supply of coal. On October 10, the peak demand was 226 MW and minimum demand was 166 MW. On October 9, the peak demand was 247 MW.

Ojha said the supply was more than adequate to meet the demand. — TNS
