Chandigarh Administrator's nod to policy allowing sponsor banners at sports tournaments

UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria has given his approval to allow installation of sponsor banners and hoardings at sports events organised by recognised and affiliated bodies. It is a welcome development for local sports associations, which heavily rely on sponsors for holding events.

An association affiliated/recognised by Chandigarh Olympic Association/Chandigarh Sports Council for conducting recognised tournaments, including state/national/international in the of sub-junior/junior/senior and others will have to pay Rs 5,000 per day for installing any number of sponsor banners/hoardings at recognised tournaments, besides booking/other charges.

Similarly, an association affiliated/recognised by Chandigarh Olympic Association/Chandigarh Sports Council for conducting unrecognised tournaments will be Rs 10,000 per day for installing any number of sponsor banners/hoardings, in addition to booking/other charges. The fee for unaffiliated/unrecognised associations, organisations and commercial bodies has been kept at Rs 20,000 per day.
