Later, the CBI had laid a trap on accused Bhagwan Singh, who was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs1 lakh on behalf of former SHO Jaswinder Kaur.

The CBI said Jaswinder deliberately and intentionally absconded and did not join the CBI investigation in order to avoid her confrontation with accused Bhagwan Singh.

She even created a false evidence by making a false entry in the DDR at the Mani Majra police station vide DDR No. 32 dated June 30 at 11.38 am for going to join CBI investigation and another entry dated June 30 at 2.42 pm for her return to the police station.

The complainant, Gurdeep Singh, alleged that his signature was taken on a blank paper under pressure by Jaswinder Kaur. Raids were conducted at the residence of Jaswinder, but she could not be found and her mobile phone was found switched off. Letters were also sent to the senior officers of the Chandigarh Police for directing Jaswinder to join investigation.

It was informed by the Chandigarh Police that Jaswinder was transferred to the Police Lines, Sector 26, Chandigarh, but she had not reported for duty there.
