Flight operations had to be truncated at the international airport for a two-week period for maintenance and repair of the single-strip runway at the single-strip airport. However, the maintenance project has now been divided into phases.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) had allowed a seven-hour window for flight operations at the airport from October 26 to November 6 to facilitate passenger movement during the peak festival season. The runway was available for flight operations from 5 am to 12 noon daily but only two or three flights operated during that period.
