Northern Frontier wins ITBP shooting meet

Northern Frontier of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has bagged the top position at the 35th Inter-frontier Shooting Competition that concluded at the Basic Training Centre (BTC) in Bhanu, near here, today.

Training Zone and North East Frontier got the 2nd and 3rd positions, respectively. Rajesh Sharma, Deputy Inspector-General from the Training Zone was declared the best pistol shooter, while Shivender Singh, Assistant Commandant from Training Zone, was declared the best carbine shooter.

Training Zone was declared the best team in pistol shooting, North East Frontier was declared the best team in carbine shooting and Northern Frontier was declared the best team in rifle shooting.

Sandeep Singh, Youth Affairs and Sports Minister, Haryana, said the purpose of these competitions was to uplift the shooting skills of personnel to the national and inter-national levels. Inspector-General, BTC, Ishwar Singh Duhan said a total of 500 participants participated in the three-day competition which included 13 events related to 9mm pistol, 9mm carbine and 5.56mm INSAS rifle. — TNS
