Civil Judge Randeep Kumar has issued a notice to Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, alias Sidhu Moosewala, on a civil suit filed by advocate Sunil Kumar Mallan for allegedly defaming the image of lawyers and the legal profession. Besides Moosewala, the notices have also been issued to 10 other defendants, including Hungama and YouTube, named in the suit. The court has directed the defendants to file the reply on March 2.

In the suit for recovery and damages filed under Order 9, CPC, Mallan said Moosewala had released a song, “Sanju”, on a number of social media platforms with an intention of defaming the judicial system and the legal profession. He said the act of the singer lowered and tarnished the image and reputation of the complainant being an advocate and other legal fraternity in public and society.
