The investigation into the killing of Inderpreet Singh, alias Parry, has taken a new turn after an audio clip, purportedly capturing a phone call between him and jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, began circulating widely online.

The clip, though brief, reflects a casual exchange that later takes a slightly tense turn. The two men greet each other, with Bishnoi asking about his recent marriage and family visit. Bishnoi, who speaks in a measured tone, refers to “things taking a different direction” and hints that the situation around them had become complicated. He enquired about Parry going to court to which the latter responds politely, saying he had not received a message and had not been to court, before asking about Bishnoi’s health.

What makes the development more striking is the claim by Parry’s close friends that the conversation took place two or three days before the fatal attack. According to them, Parry had mentioned receiving a message that Bishnoi wanted to speak to him on a different handset allegedly being sent through an acquaintance, as the gangster wished to “discuss something personal”.

Sources close to the family insist that Parry did not view it as threatening. The emergence of the audio, they say, strengthens their belief that the clip predates the shooting and may offer crucial context rather than evidence of any escalating confrontation.

The Chandigarh Police have taken note of the viral clip and are examining the circumstances under which the alleged call was made.

Officials emphasised that the probe would assess whether the recording has any bearing on the December 1 killing or if it is being circulated now to influence narratives around the case. The suspected gang rivalry angle remains under investigation.
