Chandigarh, June 11
The Central Government has decided to introduce refill booking portability for LPG consumers in the city.
Chandigarh will be one of the five cities where consumers will have a choice of deciding the distributor for refill of their LPG cylinders.
The consumers will be able to choose their distributor from a list of distributors within their oil marketing company (OMC).
The customer can opt for any distributor from the list applicable to his/her area to get an LPG refill delivery. An official said the service would not only empower customers by way of enhanced choice, but also inspire healthy competition among the distributors to provide good service to the customers.
The facility of online transfer of an LPG connection to another distributor serving in the same area has been provided to customers through the respective OMC web portals as well as their mobile apps. Using their registered login, customers can choose a distributor of their OMC from the list of distributors serving in their area and opt for the porting of their LPG connection.
Source distributor has the option to contact the customer and persuade him/her. If the customer is convinced, he/she can withdraw the portability request within the stipulated time of three days. Otherwise, the connection gets transferred to the target distributor automatically.

- To be launched shortly, the facility will be available in Chandigarh, Coimbatore, Gurugram, Pune and Ranchi.
- While booking an LPG refill through mobile app/customer portal using the registered login, the customer will be shown a list of distributors and their performance rating shall be displayed.
