The UT Administration has given another chance to the owners of flats in cooperative housing societies to execute the conveyance deed at the allotment rate.

Sources said the Administration today issued the order for the extension till January 31. The second extension was given after a delegation of society residents met the UT Adviser last month.

Earlier, the UT Administrator had given in principle approval to the extension.

A UT official said the extension of one month was the final.

Last year, the Administration had announced a scheme for the transfer of flats.

Under the one-time relaxation scheme, group housing societies are allowed to register the conveyance deed at the rate of allotment, which is Rs 750 per sq yd for 1993 allotments and Rs 2,850 per sq yd for the land allotted in 2001.

In June 2019, the Administration extended the scheme by six months and it was to close on December 31.

Later, a delegation of the societies, led by MN Shukla, convener of housing societies, met UT Adviser Manoj Kumar Parida and raised the demand for another extension of the scheme. Now, housing societies will be able to execute conveyance deed till January 31.

After the expiry of the scheme, residents executing conveyance deed will have to pay fee as per the current collector rates.

KK Sharma, former chairman of the State Cooperative Bank, demanded that the one-month extension was not going to benefit all, as in several cases, the publication of notice time was also one month. He said the date should be extended by three months.
