NSS special camp begins at Panjab varsity
A week-long NSS camp commenced at Panjab University (PU) here on Thursday. Organised by the NSS, the camp is being held under the guidance of programme coordinator Dr Parveen Goyal.
PU Vice-Chancellor Prof Renu Vig inaugurated the camp in the presence of distinguished guests, including Additional Solicitor General of India, Satyapal Jain, PU Controller of Examinations Prof Jagat Bhushan, PU Dean of College Development Council Prof Sanjay Kaushik, PU Dean of Research and Development Cell Prof Yojna Rawat, PU DSW (Women) Prof Simrit Kahlon, Prof Rajat Sandhir, Prof Ganga Ram and other faculty and staff members.
In her inaugural address, Prof Renu Vig motivated volunteers to give their best in the true spirit of the National Service Scheme (NSS). She highlighted the crucial role of the NSS in personality development of students through community service and fostering a sense of social responsibility.
While emphasising the camp’s theme — Youth for digital literacy and save environment — she highlighted the importance of small yet impactful initiatives taken in the university, such as implementing an online diary dispatch system for files and use of online delivery, which could contribute significantly to the environmental protection and in other significant aspects too.
Prof Renu Vig and Satyapal Jain, along with other dignitaries, also unveiled the New Year calendar of the PU NSS.
The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from NSS Programme Officers Dr Manjushri, Dr Anu, Dr Sonia Bhardwaj and Dr Vivek, who actively contributed to the programme.
