Chandigarh, January 9
The Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi and Samvaad Theatre Group teamed up to stage a Hindi play, ‘Ek Aur Dronacharya’, to pay tribute to film actor and director late Sachin Sharma.
Written by Shankar Shesh and directed by Sachin Sharma, the play depicted the dilemmas and the contradiction that every man faces while choosing between the wrong and right in various circumstances that life offers. Using Dronacharya, the celestial warrior, as a metaphor and borrowing instances from mythology, the play depicted the sordid story of Prof Arvind, who just like Dronacharya, is trapped in the system and compromises for position and profit, but gets caught in a web of sin and retribution. The highlight of the play is debate between Arvind and his honest colleague Vimlendu who lost his life for the sake of materialistic pleasures. Chief guest Dr Saubhagya Vardhan honoured the family members of Sachin Sharma. — OC
