On national tour, Junior Hockey World Cup trophy reaches city

As part of the national tour, the trophy of the FIH Men’s Junior Hockey World Cup reached Chandigarh this evening. The Junior Hockey World Cup is slated to be held from November 28 to December 10 in Chennai and Madurai.

The event was organised by hockey players, coaches, sports officials and young athletes from the city. Haryana Governor Ashim Kumar Ghosh and Chandigarh Hockey president Karan Gilhotra unveiled the World Cup trophy.

“Hockey is a sport deeply connected to the soul of India. It is not merely a game but a symbol of our nation’s unity, discipline and team spirit. The FIH Junior Hockey World Cup Trophy Tour will foster patriotism and sporting spirit among the youth. I am confident that the Indian team will once again deliver an outstanding performance and make the Tricolour soar high,” the Governor said on the occasion.

Karan Gilhotra said the trophy tour will pass through 20 cities before returning to Tamil Nadu, giving hockey fans across the country a chance to see the trophy up close.

“Hockey Chandigarh will always support the development and dreams of every young player. The trophy tour is more than just an event — it is an opportunity to ignite enthusiasm and inspiration for hockey throughout the city and state,” he said.
