The local police have arrested a proclaimed offender (PO), who was on the run for the past eight years, in a theft and cheating case.

The accused, Harpreet Singh, a resident of Vikaspuri in Delhi, was produced in a local court and sent to judicial custody.

He was wanted by the police in a 2012 case registered against him at the Sector 5 police station under Sections 379 (theft), 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 467 (forging documents), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged document or electronic record), 473 (making or possessing counterfeit seal) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC. He was arrested by the police and subsequently granted bail in the case. He was declared a PO by the court after jumping bail. — TNS
