Mohali: One arrested in Chappar Chiri encounter

The police have nabbed one Banwari Pal, a member of the Kaushal Chaudhary gang, after a brief shootout in Chappar Chiri today evening while he was on a recce of a Punjabi singer. According to the police, the Agra native fired two gunshots at the cops during the chase, but suffered a leg injury in a retaliatory fire by a Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) official.

However, his accomplice managed to flee the spot. Police have seized a weapon and motorcycle from the suspect’s possession.

Mohali SSP Sandeep Garg said, “Banwari Pal is one of the shooters involved in a firing incident that took place in Mahilpur of Hoshiarpur around a fortnight ago. The suspect has been shifted to the Civil Hospital in Phase 6 of Mohali for treatment.”

An official said the police have positive leads in the Bunty Bains attack case as well, adding that they would nab the assailants very soon.
