The police have arrested a person who along with his two aides injured Virinderpal Singh, while attempting carjacking on November 6 on Kharar-Mohali road.
The suspect has been identified as Gurdeep Singh Guri, a resident of Dakha, Ludhiana, and was nabbed from Kharar bus stand on Monday.
Guri and his associates came in a Cruze car and fired shots in the air and injured Virinderpal. The victim, who runs an IELTS centre in Kurali had stated that he was heading to Mohali and around 10.30 pm he parked his SUV nearKharar bus stand to attend nature’s call. He said suddenly the trio tried to take away his car and when he resisted they fired in the air and attacked him with a knife.
The police had registered a case under Sections 394 and 34 of the IPC and under the Arms Act against three unidentified persons.
Guri was produced before a court on Tuesday, which sent him to four-day police remand. — OC
