One held for scooter theft

Chandigarh: The police have arrested a man for stealing a scooter. Rahul, a resident of Phase II, Ram Darbar, reported that his scooter was stolen from Sector 31. The police registered a case and during investigation, Armaan Mani, a resident of Sector 29, was arrested. TNS

Man loses Rs 25L to cyber fraud

Chandigarh: A fraudster has duped a man of Rs 25 lakh. Mohammad Safiqul, a resident of 12 Wing, Air Force Station, reported that an unidentified person cheated him through WhatsApp on the pretext of investment. A case has been registered at the cybercrime police station and investigation started. TNS

Cash, mobile snatched

Chandigarh: Two unidentified persons reportedly snatched cash and a mobile phone from a Mauli Jagran resident. Ram Avadh reported that two persons snatched Rs 5,000, a mobile phone and his Aadhaar card from him near the Hallo Majra light point. A case has been registered at the Mauli Jagran police station. Rain likely in city for 2 more days

Chandigarh: Strong winds blew in the city whole day long on Monday while the evening witnessed light showers. As per the forecast, the city is likely to receive showers for two more days. Tree branches fell in several areas due to high-velocity wind. A branch of tree fell on cars parked in Sector 22-C. The minimum temperature increased to 16.2 °C on Monday, which was six degrees above normal, while the maximum was 24.9 °C, which was two degrees above normal. TNS

Workshop on obstetric care

Chandigarh: The National Institute of Nursing Education, PGIMER, organised a seven-day workshop to develop the knowledge and skills of nurses to manage obstetrical emergencies. Dr Vanita Jain, Professor and Head, Department of Obstetrics and Gyaenecology, PGIMER, inaugurated the workshop. The event saw as many as 29 participants from Chandigarh, Punjab and Haryana. TNS

Lecture on Sri Aurobindo

Chandigarh: The 71st colloquium lecture titled ‘The Relevance of Sri Aurobindo Today’ was delivered by academician Prof Sachidananda Mohanty, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Odisha, and member of the governing board of Auroville Foundation, administered by the MHRD, Government of India, at Panjab University. He outlined Sri Aurobindo’s futuristic vision for mankind. TNS

Vikas declared Mr Chandigarh

Chandigarh: Vikas Bist was adjudged Mr Chandigarh and Rajneet Kaur Miss Chandigarh during the 12th Mr Chandigarh & Miss Chandigarh Championship at GGDSD College in Sector 32. The event was organised by the Chandigarh Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Association under the aegis of the Indian Body Builders Federation. In the men’s sports physique, Ashish Dogra was declared the winner, and in athletic physique, Shubham received the top honour.
