A 38-year-old train engine driver died and 10 others were injured when an SUV driver lost control over the vehicle and rammed into people celebrating Lohri near DCW Colony late Monday night.
The police have impounded the vehicle and registered a case against the driver who has been arrested.
The victim has been identified as Atul who was employed with the Railways and worked as an engine driver.
“The incident took place around 10.30 pm when some people were sitting around a bonfire and celebrating the festival. Suddenly, the SUV hit them at a high speed,” said the police. They were rushed to a local hospital where Atul was declared dead.
The injured are under treatment for their injuries.
