To tackle traffic congestion at the Punjab and Haryana High Court complex, a one-way system for vehicles will come into force from September 18. Vehicles will be allowed entry only from the Rock Garden side, while exits will be permitted exclusively towards the Secretariat/old barricade side.

According to the Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association, the plan has been drawn up in consultation with Chandigarh Traffic Police after deliberations over traffic snarls, which often force vehicles to wait from 30 minutes to an hour while entering or exiting the court complex.

Vehicles parked in the kutcha parking near the Rock Garden will continue as before, while others can proceed to multilevel and designated parking spots. Bags and briefs will be offloaded only at regular points near Gate No. 1 and Gate No. 4.

Only vehicles of advocates, their staff and High Court employees will be permitted beyond the multilevel parking towards the main building. All other visitors must take a left turn towards the Secretariat side. Two-wheelers have also been directed to use designated parking areas, including those near the post office.
