The faculty and residents of the Advanced Eye Centre, PGIMER, have put an exceptional show with 50 presentations in different specialties and winning 15 awards and orations at the recently concluded 78th Annual Conference of the All-India Ophthalmological Society in Gurugram, Haryana.
The conference was attended by over 8,000 ophthalmologists from across India and abroad. Madhuri Akella, Senior Resident, received the ‘Best Young Researcher Award’ with Rs 1 lakh for her thesis under Prof SS Pandav. Dr Surbhi, Senior Resident, received a cash prize of Rs. 55,000 for her thesis under Prof Jagat Ram.
In addition, PGI Director Prof Jagat Ram also won the ‘Best Educational Video’ and Ophthalmic Premier League at the conference. Amod Gupta, Emeritus Professor, delivered the prestigious ‘Nam Perumalsamy endowment lecture’ and Prof Mangat R Dogra delivered the prestigious ‘Michael Trese oration’ for their outstanding work in the field of retina. The society also honored Prof SS Pandav and team with AIOS IJO GOLD Award for ‘Best Paper in 2019’.
